GENERAL COMMENTS:

Cash cattle trade remains quiet at the middle of the week with markets at a virtual standstill. It is unlikely that anything will quickly develop early Thursday with wide gaps still seen between asking prices and bids. Bids of $120 were seen through the South, as asking prices are holding at $124 in the South and $200 and higher in the North. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base closed $2.45 higher compared with the Prior Day settlement ($90.00-$104.00, weighted average $101.88).
