GENERAL COMMENTS:

Activity in the cash cattle market was limited to just a few scattered bids in parts of the feeding area. Asking prices remained firm at $130-plus in the South and $207-plus in the North. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base closed $2.35 higher compared with the Prior Day settlement ($73.00-$88.00, weighted average $86.05). Reversing from early gains, corn futures settled mostly 1 to 9 cents lower with old-crop contracts losing ground to new counterparts.
