GENERAL COMMENTS:

Besides a few isolated live sales in parts of Iowa ($126), the cash cattle trade remained untested with bids and asking prices poorly defined. A few showlists were priced around $127-plus in the South and $202-plus in the North. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base closed 0.90 lower compared with the Prior Day settlement ($63.00-$78.50, weighted average $75.08). The corn market closed mixed, up 4 1/2 in the March, up 1/2 in May and then 1/4 to 2 3/4 lower in the rest of the contracts.
