While Rodgers and Hammerstein cleverly skipped their way around the musically-inspired cow pies of "Oklahoma" and "State Fair," I'm pretty sure that neither composer nor lyricist could tell the difference between a steer and a heifer. Charming a theatrical audience is one thing, advising feedlot managers quite another.

Nevertheless, I found myself mysteriously humming "June is bustin' out all over" the other morning, right when all of my energy should have been trained on writing early livestock comments. Worse yet, it became the song that would never end.
