OUTSIDE MARKETS

Canada's equity market is 61.84 points higher today, at 12,722.28. Equity markets around the globe welcomed Ben Bernake's comments Tuesday that the stimulus spending program will continue. The Canadian dollar is 26 basis points higher at $.9767 CAD/U.S. dollar. Gold is $22.80/ounce lower at $1,592.70, as investors abandon safe-havens and flock to more risky assets. Crude oil is 12 cents higher at $92.75/barrel, while Brent crude is 79 cents lower at $111.93/barrel. U.S. data pointed to a 1.1 million barrel increase in crude oil inventories, which was below the expected increase of 2.7 million barrels.
