Outside Markets

Asian stocks were mostly higher on Monday, with Japan's Nikkei leading the way and gaining 1.9%. The G20 meeting in Washington resulted in support for Japan's recent monetary policy, which was viewed as supportive to the markets. European equities are also trading higher on Monday. Canada's TSX equity market closed 69.21 higher on Friday, at 12,065.55. Canada's rate of inflation was announced at 1% for March, below the 1.1% expected and well below the target rate of 2%.
