Asian stocks were mostly lower in early trade with Japan's Nikkei closing 1.2% lower. European stocks are showing mixed trade. The TSX closed 172.63 lower at 11,947.29 points in Wednesday's trade. Dow futures are 48 higher, which should lead to a firm open in North American equity markets on Thursday. The Canadian dollar is 36 basis points higher at $.9758 CAD/U.S. dollar, while the U.S. dollar is .171 lower at 82.620. Commodities have rallied overnight, with gold up $14.50 to $1,397.20/ounce.
