China Stockpiling Soybeans, Corn

BEIJING (Dow Jones) -- The government will continue to stockpile soybeans and corn this year from farmers to maintain a stable market, the National Development and Reform Commission said in a statement Friday.

It will buy soybeans from farmers at 4,600 yuan a metric ton and corn at a range between 2,220 and 2,260 yuan a ton, it said.

Soybean support prices didn't change from last year, but the government's offer for corn was higher than the 2,100-2,140 yuan range it offered last year.
