GENERAL COMMENTS:

Triple-digit gains in cattle futures signified the renewed support that took the livestock market by surprise once again. Aggressive buyer interest is holding through both live cattle and feeder cattle markets despite the expectation that overall volume at these levels will remain light. Lean hog futures remain under light pressure, but are becoming more stable near midday. Corn futures are lower at midday. March corn futures are 2 cents per bushel lower. Stock markets are higher in light trade. The Dow Jones is 158 points higher while Nasdaq is up 30 points.
