STREATOR, Ill. (DTN) -- Remember when propane filled a bigger role on the farm? The Propane Education & Research Council hopes that becomes more reality than memory.

PERC is promoting propane to fuel portable engines used in crop irrigation, farmland emergency power, and for thermal applications such as pest control and frost prevention.

Traditional uses for propane in the agricultural sector include crop drying in the fall and winter and space heating of buildings.
