Strategie Grains Ups EU Wheat Forecast

(AP) -- Strategie Grains Thursday raised its forecast for the European Union's 2014-15 soft wheat harvest by 2 million metric tons to 139.4 million tons, mainly due to increased acreage in Germany, Denmark, France and the U.K.

"Conditions for crop development were very good everywhere in Europe during May except Spain, where drought has sharply reduced yield potentials," Strategie Grains said.

Strategie Grains expects the EU to bring in its largest harvest since 2008 this year.
