OMAHA (DTN) -- Widespread rain and snow in the Midwest, along with a generally dry trend in the southwestern Plains are the primary weather items for the commodity trade's attention Thursday.

WET MIDWEST CONDITIONS

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for rain and strong thunderstorms to keep Midwest fieldwork and any planting to a minimum. A recent turn to drier and warmer weather in southeastern U.S. should allow for some planting progress. Longer-range maps suggest a possible drier trend for the western Midwest, but so long as Canada stays cold this drier trend would be uncertain.
