A mix of freezing rain and snow was noted in the Deep South Thursday afternoon, mostly in Mississippi. Dry conditions covered the rest of the primary U.S. and Canadian Prairie crop regions. In the West, lower-elevation rain and some mountain snow were indicated in central and northern California with very light precipitation. Temperatures continued to be frigid in the central and eastern U.S. Values ranged from the teens below zero in central and eastern Montana to the low 50s in southeastern Georgia.
