Snow showers were noted in the northern and central Plains through the western and central Midwest Wednesday afternoon. Other primary U.S. and Canadian Prairie crop regions were dry. Bitter cold conditions were also featured from the central Prairies southeast to the Ohio Valley and east into New England. Temperatures ranged from -15 in southern Manitoba to the low 70s in southern Texas.

Thursday will feature light snow in the far southwestern Plains and far eastern Midwest, with dry conditions elsewhere. Temperatures will be cold in most areas, with the core of the cold air again in the Midwest. Wheat areas ...
