Moderate to locally heavy rain covered much of the central and southern Midwest Friday, notably in Illinois and central through southern Missouri. A mix of rain and snow was also featured in central Nebraska through northwestern Iowa, and an area of moderate rain developed in the Carolinas. Dry conditions covered the rest of the primary U.S. and Canadian Prairie crop regions. Temperatures ranged from the mid-teens in the southern Prairies to the low 80s in far southern Texas. Midwest readings were largely in the 30s and 40s.
