A mix of rain, freezing precipitation and snow covered much of the Great Lakes and eastern Midwest Friday afternoon, and a rain/freezing precipitation mix was also noted in western Texas. Light snow dotted much of the western Midwest as well. A bitter cold Arctic air mass continued to spread south out of the Canadian Prairies into the northern and central Plains through northern Midwest. Temperatures ranged from -10 in south-central North Dakota to the low 80s in far southern Texas.
