Light rain is in store for the eastern Midwest, mid-South, and north-central Plains Thursday. The rest of the primary U.S. and Canadian Prairie crop regions will be dry. Harvest and field work will see some advances in areas with dry conditions. Temperatures will be cool in northern areas and mild elsewhere. A chilly trend in early morning leads to freeze possibilities in the southwest Plains.

Highs: 40s/50s Prairies, Northern, western and central Plains, northern, western and central Midwest; 60s/70s elsewhere with some 80s far south Texas and the Southeast.
