Light rain showers are in store for the Northern Plains and far eastern Midwest Wednesday. The rest of the primary U.S. and Canadian Prairie crop regions will be dry. Temperatures will be hot in most areas, especially in the western Midwest through central and Southern Plains. This combination will be very stressful to crops and livestock. The heat wave lasts through the end of the week in many areas before some moderation during the Labor Day weekend.

Highs: 80s northern Prairies, Great Lakes, eastern Midwest, Southeast; 90s elsewhere with potential 100s in north-central Nebraska.
