Light to moderate rain is in store for the eastern Midwest Thursday, and light rain will also develop in portions of the western Midwest. The remainder of the U.S. and Canadian Prairie crop regions will be dry. Heat bulletins are in effect in the south-central and southeastern Plains through the Delta, which will cause some stress to crops. We'll also see very hot conditions throughout the southwestern Plains. This heat will favor wheat harvest, but continues to deplete soil moisture and brings more stress to row crops, livestock and pasture.
