Thursday will feature moderate rain in the far eastern Midwest as the big storm system which fired up in the central Midwest Wednesday focuses its energy on the northeastern U.S. This storm system produced some heavy rain, high wind damage, hail, and possible tornadoes in an area from eastern Iowa through northern Indiana. Thursday's conditions will be quieter as a result. The only other area of note with showers Thursday is in the western Canadian Prairies. Meanwhile, oppressive heat and high winds have wildfire danger in extreme categories over the far southwestern Plains through the southern Rocky Mountains.
