Showers and thunderstorms covered much of the Northern Plains Thursday afternoon, and scattered thunderstorms with potentially severe weather fired up in the western Plains. Moderate rain was also featured in the Delta and portions of the Ohio Valley. The rest of the primary U.S. and Canadian Prairie crop regions were dry. Temperatures ranged from the mid 50s in western North Dakota to the mid 90s in central and south Texas.

Rain will be noted Friday in the northern Midwest through the southern Canadian Prairies, along with the northwestern Plains and the Ohio Valley and Delta. Showers will be light except ...
