Moderate to locally heavy rain is in store for the eastern Midwest Friday, with heaviest amounts in the Ohio River Valley. The eastern Midwest rain brings further soil moisture improvement. A round of moderate snow will also be noted in central South Dakota. The rest of the primary U.S. and Prairie crop regions will be dry. During the weekend, a series of rain and snow squalls will develop across the Northern Plains and northern Midwest. The overall impact, however, will be minimal in terms of easing drought conditions.
