Dust Bowl Images Alert Growers

DALHART, Texas (DTN) -- Brothers Brian and John Bezner can barely see center pivots on their neighbor's fields to the north in the northwest Texas Panhandle. Irrigation equipment appear as hazy, ghostly images on blown-out fields where only Russian thistle grows, dies and tumbles into barbed-wire fences and barns. Several square miles of cropland are now a wasteland. Centers of fields are bowled out and sand dunes drape through windrows and atop ditches.
