METEOROLOGICAL DISCUSSION

The northern branch of the jet stream features some weak ridging over western Canada and Alaska and a blocking ridge to the north of Alaska up near the pole. The polar vortex over south-central and eastern Canada extending southward into the north-central and northeast US and a weak blocking ridge over north-central and northeast Canada and Greenland.
