Every year herbicide manufacturers bring new products to market in the form of premixes or combinations. While there are plenty of products to pick from, the industry lacks novel new chemistry. The only new active ingredient in the herbicide portfolio for 2014 is pyroxasulfone.

"There are rarely new active ingredient crop protection products available today," said Mark Loux, Ohio State University Extension weed scientist.
