BASF Buys Becker Underwood

ST. LOUIS (DTN) -- When BASF closed the deal on Becker Underwood in late November, it was more than an acquisition. The company's expertise in biologicals, seed treatment colorants and polymers will help form one of the cornerstones of BASF's new global business unit called Functional Crop Care.

Within this new unit, BASF plans to merge its existing research, development and marketing activities with Becker Underwood's to focus on three areas: seed treatment, biological crop protection and plant health.
