NEVADA, Iowa (DTN) -- A stack of corn stover bales caught fire from a lightning strike in central Iowa earlier this year and was reduced to ash -- two weeks later.

Since it was one of many satellite stover storage sites for DuPont's cellulosic ethanol plant under construction in Nevada, Iowa, company officials took the opportunity to learn. Proper stover storage is one of many parts of the budding industry.
