Senators, EPA Chief Meet on RFS

WASHINGTON (DTN) -- Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Gina McCarthy met with a bipartisan group of senators Wednesday to hear their views on the agency's proposal to reduce the volumetric requirements under the Renewable Fuel Standard.

Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, told reporters Thursday that McCarthy "stated unequivocally" at the meeting that she was a proponent of biofuels and usage should actually expand. He said McCarthy was willing to reassess the proposed rule.
