Ethanol Duty Comes at Time of Talks

OMAHA (DTN) -- A bipartisan group of U.S. senators Monday asked the U.S. trade representative to further investigate the European Union Commission decision to impose an anti-dumping penalty on U.S. ethanol imports.

The group of 14 sent a letter Monday to U.S. Acting Trade Representative Demetrios Marantis, asking him to consider filing a World Trade Organization challenge to a recent decision by the European Union Commission to impose an anti-dumping duty on ethanol imports from the U.S.

On Feb. 18, 2013, the commission announced it would impose a countrywide dumping penalty on all ethanol imports from the U.S.
