Ethanol trended lower for most of the day as lower cash ethanol prices put pressure on the market. May was showing a 5-cent loss mid-day at $2.21 per gallon and June was down 3 cents at $2.14 per gallon.

Crude oil prices opened the day higher on news that pro-Russian separatists were killed by Ukraine forces overnight. However, after the EIA reported weekly crude supplies at a record of 397.7 million barrels, the market may back down if tensions between the Ukraine and Russia ease.
