Ethanol futures slipped lower Monday following the direction of most outside markets and more notably the shift lower in energy prices. Even though corn futures were able to battle back by the end of the session and post a narrow gain, traders were unwilling to move ethanol prices higher with growing concern about production growth and uncertain demand. February ethanol futures posted a 1.3-cent-per-gallon loss, closing at $1.95 per gallon. This lack of support is expected to keep the market uncertain over the near future.
