Crude oil futures closed sharply lower at 95.44 per barrel, down $2.98 and March was at $95.77 per barrel, down $2.78. Oil futures found pressure from reports of more crude oil moving out of Libya after exports were stalled there due to protestors causing a two-month work stoppage. According to news from the state's National Oil Corporation, production is expected to resume at two of Libya's southern oil fields once negotiations with protestors are completed.
