Ethanol futures posted sharp gains in nearby contracts for the second trading session in a row. September ethanol futures posted over 11-cent gains within the last two days, with the focus on higher corn prices and tighter ethanol supplies. September futures posted a rally of 5.3 cents per gallon, closing at $2.259 a gallon. Deferred ethanol contracts posted moderate support, but are unable to find aggressive buyer interest as there is likely to be a lot of back and forth movement in corn prices before harvest is complete or the crop is made.
