Cooked meat from animals fed wet distillers grains with solubles has a faster oxidation rate and shorter shelf life than meat from animals fed from other sources, University of Nebraska researchers have found.

Previous studies have looked at how distillers grains in beef diets carries through into fresh meat characteristics, but little work had been done on how distillers diets carry through the process into ready-to-eat products, Gary Sullivan, assistant professor of meat science at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, told DTN.
