DTN Weekly Distillers Grains Update

Due to a huge industry outcry, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is backing off a proposed rule that would have made it difficult for livestock producers to use brewers spent grains in their rations.

Proposed regulations were issued under the Food Safety Modernization Act. The FDA public comments period closed on March 31. Many brewers expressed concern about the rule, which would have imposed costly measures to ensure their spent grains met with regulations.
