Argentina Wheat Crop 10.12 MT

BUENOS AIRES (Dow Jones) -- Argentina's 2012-13 wheat production will fall to just 10.12 million metric tons due to a sharp drop in planted area, the Buenos Aires Cereals Exchange said in its weekly crop report Thursday.

The forecast marks the first production estimate by the exchange.

That's way down from the 13.2 million tons the government estimates was grown last season. Planted area fell by about 1 million hectares this season, the exchange said, due to government export limits on the grain that drive down local prices.
