MOSCOW (Dow Jones) -- The pace of Russia's spring grain planting for this year's harvest remains ahead of last year due to continued good weather, the agriculture ministry said late Monday.

The ministry said farmers planted spring grains to April 21 on 3.7 million hectares, 11.5% of the planned total area, which is 900,000 hectares more than on the same date last year. On April 14, 2.1 million hectares had been planted, equivalent to 6.4% of the planned total area.

To date, spring wheat was planted on 281,000 hectares, or 2.1% of the planned total planned area and 191,900 hectares ...
