Informa Sees Soy Acres Up 7% in 2014

OMAHA (DTN) -- Private analytical firm Informa Economics sees farmers planting 5.4 million more acres of soybeans in 2014 than they did in 2013, putting U.S. crop acreage forecasts at 81.9 million acres.

"If there were any surprises in Informa's acreage estimates for December it was a 1.9 million-acre reduction in the soybean estimate from November to 81.9 million acres," DTN Analyst Todd Hultman said. "The estimate is still up significantly from USDA's estimate of 76.5 million acres in 2013 and will continue to be a bearish factor for 2014-15 soybean prices."
