WINNIPEG (Dow Jones) -- Production of Canada's major grains and oilseeds in 2014/15 is expected to come in below the record seen in 2013/14, given a return to lower average yields, according to Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's first supply/demand estimates for the upcoming crop year, released late Jan. 24.

Total planted area to the major grains and oilseeds, at 26.975 million hectares, is actually forecast to be up slightly from the 26.796 million seeded in 2013/14, but total production will be down by 15%, according to the report.
