(Dow Jones) -- Strategie Grains Thursday cut its estimate for the European Union's 2012-13 corn harvest by 900,000 metric tons to 52.8 million tons, as projected yields fell again in the 27-nation bloc's southeast.

The influential analyst group reduced its output forecast for the southeast region--where more than 66% of acreage has been harvested to date--by 1.3 million tons compared with the previous month. It didn't explain the reasons behind the revision.

It increased its estimated corn production in Spain by 260,000 tons and in Poland by 440,000 tons to reflect higher acreage and better yield forecasts.
