MU MAKES NEW PLANT DEFENSE DISCOVERY

University of Missouri researchers have made a discovery that could help the ag industry create herbicides, fertilizers and pest repellants that take advantage of a plant's natural defense mechanisms. According to a university press release, scientists discovered ATP (adenosine triphosphate) receptors in plant cells, which they believe help the plant respond to stresses like insect bites or storm damage.
