Ukraine Harvest Lags Behind

(Dow Jones) -- Ukraine's grain harvest is lagging 19.5% behind last year's volumes as crops are negatively affected by drought.

Since harvesting began in mid-June, Ukraine has harvested to Dec. 3 45.96 million metric tons of grain on 14.55 million hectares, or 99% of the total area to be harvested, with an average yield of 3.16 metric tons a hectare, the agriculture ministry reported Monday.

The ministry said on the same date last year harvest was 57.09 mmt tons on 15.17 million hectares and the average yield was 3.76 mt/ha.
