Cover Crops Helped in Drought

COLUMBIA, Mo. (DTN) -- Despite last year's drought, farmers in the Corn Belt reported higher corn and soybean yields on their fields following cover crops than on their fields where no cover crops were grown.

That's one of the takeaways of a cover crop survey released Monday by the USDA North Central Region Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education program along with the Conservation Technology Information Center. The survey focused on cover crop adoption, benefits, challenges and yield impacts.
