CHICAGO (DTN) -- Farming in South America isn't for the faint-hearted. But for U.S. farmers Lee and J.W. Trimmer, it offered an opportunity to grow that simply wasn't afforded back home in the U.S.

With their 1,000 acres in northwest Missouri insufficient to sustain three families, Lee, his brother J.W. and his father John decided to go where they could get more bang for their farming buck -- Argentina. So, back in 1998, a newly-graduated Lee decamped to the Argentine pampas, armed with a $75,000 loan, a cellphone and a bicycle, to build the South American branch of the family ...
