Long-Awaited Farm Bill Becomes Law

EAST LANSING, Mich. (DTN) -- President Barack Obama signed the new farm bill into law here Friday in the presence of Senate Agriculture Committee Chairwoman Debbie Stabenow, but without the other farm leaders who ushered it through Congress.

Obama's speech and the signing ceremony took place at the Mary Anne McPhail Equine Performance Center on the campus of Michigan State University. It was a day that Stabenow, D-Mich., who holds bachelor's and master's degrees from Michigan State, delivered the president to her alma mater.
