Food Stamp Vote Scheduled

WASHINGTON, D.C., (DTN) -- American Farm Bureau President Bob Stallman is not certain House Republicans have the votes to pass a bill that would cut food-stamp spending by $40 billion over 10 years.

The office of House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., announced late Friday he has scheduled the bill for the latter portion of this week.

The announcement stated the bill will be sponsored by House Agriculture Committee Chairman Frank Lucas, R-Okla. The bill is titled the "Nutrition Reform and Work Opportunity Act," but it does not have a bill number. Further, the House Rules Committee will have to ...
