Geithner Eyes Farm Subsidies

WASHINGTON (DTN) -- Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner on Sunday repeatedly cited farm subsidies as one type of government spending the Obama administration would like to cut to deal with the federal deficit, which includes resuscitating an administration proposal to cut crop insurance subsidies.

Only days ago, Senate Agriculture Committee ranking member Pat Roberts, R-Kan., said he is ready to compromise with southerners on the farm bill in order to stop cuts to the crop insurance program.
