Congress Ready for Farm Bill

WASHINGTON (DTN) -- In final floor action before the beginning of the House-Senate conference on the farm bill, the House voted down a resolution Saturday to make changes to the sugar program.

Congress remains unable to come to terms on a budget or debt ceiling, but lawmakers now appear determined to get the farm bill done.

House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., on Saturday named their negotiators to serve on the House-Senate conference committee charged with resolving differences between the House and Senate-passed farm bills.
