Rural America Defends RFS

OMAHA (DTN) -- Scaling back the Renewable Fuel Standard would have wide-ranging effects on various aspects of the rural economy, a number of ethanol and biodiesel industry supporters say in comments submitted to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and posted on regulations.gov.

Those in favor of the EPA proposal that would cut the total 2014 biofuels volumes by some 3 billion gallons -- including more than 1 billion gallons of corn-based ethanol -- say the action is needed to help overcome concerns about the blend wall where total ethanol production exceeds the available market.
