Six Democratic senators have written the chairman and ranking member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture asking for funding for a virus to deal with the Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea virus.

Sen. Kay Hagan, D-N.C., issued a news release Tuesday with a copy of the letter, citing that PEDv has killed six million pigs nationally. "With PEDv having a near 100% mortality rate for piglets under two weeks old, the economic costs to producers is staggering.
